We’re delighted to share that Affinity Lancashire has been named a FINALIST in the 2027 Lancashire Tourism Small Event Award for our SEND Grotto weekend!
Our SEND Grotto was created to make the magic of Christmas more accessible for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and their families. From quieter surroundings and pre-bookable appointments to trained staff and a flexible approach that put each family’s individual needs first, every detail was considered to make the experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
And importantly, the whole experience was completely FREE, ensuring that cost was never a barrier to families being able to enjoy a special festive experience together.
For some families, traditional festive attractions can feel overwhelming or difficult to access. Our aim was to create a space where everyone could relax, feel welcome and make those all-important Christmas memories.
Being recognised as a finalist by the Lancashire Tourism Awards is a wonderful acknowledgement of the work that goes into making our events more inclusive, and we’re incredibly proud of our team.
