At Affinity Lancashire, we’re committed to creating a more sustainable environment and supporting local biodiversity across our centre through a range of environmental initiatives.
As part of this commitment, we have introduced a dedicated bug hotel to help encourage insects and pollinators, providing a safe habitat for important species such as bees, ladybirds and other wildlife that play a vital role in our ecosystem.
We have also created a rewilding area designed to encourage nature to thrive naturally. By allowing native plants and wildflowers to grow, this space helps support pollination, attract wildlife and create healthier habitats for birds, insects and other species.
Alongside supporting biodiversity, we are continuing to make more sustainable choices across the centre, including switching to LED lighting wherever possible to help reduce energy consumption.
Visitors can also make use of our water refill station, encouraging the use of reusable bottles and helping to reduce single-use plastic waste.
You’ll also spot Bubbles, our eye-catching whale sculpture made from recycled plastic bottles. Bubbles has been created to help make a splash in the fight for cleaner oceans and a healthier planet, while also giving visitors a fun and engaging place to recycle their plastic bottles during their visit to the centre.
Together, these initiatives form part of our ongoing commitment to creating a greener, more sustainable Affinity Lancashire for our visitors, community and local wildlife.
