Ellie-Welly’s Story

Ellie-Welly was part of Elmer’s Big Parade Blackpool which ran from 13th April to the 9th June 2024. The trail was organised by Brian House Children Hospice in conjunction with Wild in Art to raise money for the hospice which is based in Blackpool.

Ellie-Welly was sponsored by us here at Affinity Lancashire, and was part of a 71 strong herd of Elmers that created the trail around Blackpool.

She was designed by artist Nicola Mills to be an Elmer who loves rainy days, muddy puddles and making a splash – and this reminded us of the weather in Fleetwood!

Once the trail had ended, the 31 large Elmers, including Ellie-Welly, were sent to auction and we were lucky enough to secure her with the winning bid to bring her home to the centre.

The auction raised a whopping £143,500 for Brain House Children’s Hospice!

Affinity Lancashire are so proud to have been part of the trail – and love having Ellie-Welly with us here at the centre.
